Inhalt
Der Todesgott Z findet ein Baby und anstatt dessen Seele zu konsumieren zieht er es auf und und unterrichtet es. Viele Jahre später schickt er die, noch junge Olivia in die Welt hinaus und verschwindet. Zum Abschied hinterlässt er ihr ein schwarzes Schwert. Das Königreich Fernest wird gerade vom Asvelt Imperium regelrecht überrannt. Nachdem Olivia der königlichen Armee beitritt, beginnt der letzte Versuch das Königreich zu retten.

Warum?
Die Buchserie gehört zu meinen Favoriten im JNC Katalog. Am Angang gibt es sehr viele Ähnlichkeiten zu The Girl Who Ate a Death God, allerdings auch Unterschiede und mit der Zeit geht die Geschichte durchaus andere Wege. Sie ist deutlich weniger düster aber immernoch recht blutrünstig. Der Kontrast zwischen den lockeren slice-of-life Szenen und den Kämpfen bzw. Schlachtfeldern sorgt für eine etwas makabere Stimmung.
